Śląskie Konfrontacje Utraconych Nauk Kunsztu Szermierczego ŚKUNKS to impreza popularyzująca dawne europejskie sztuki walki i okazja do konfrontacji swoich umiejętności podczas rozgrywanych w jej trakcie zawodów w indywidualnym praktycznym ścinaniu na czas, zapasach historycznych, czy też w turnieju długiego miecza i korda.
Głównym celem jest wymiana doświadczeń poprzez dyskusje, warsztaty, wolne sparingi, czy też zawody przy użyciu różnych rodzajów broni. Stałymi punktami imprezy są zawody w ścinaniu na czas, turniej długiego miecza i Fechtschule. Nieodłącznym elementem Śkunksa jest także ognisko integracyjne.
Impreza, którą organizujemy w Rybniku, jest obecnie jedyną tego rodzaju na Śląsku i jedną z nielicznych w Polsce. Śkunks odbywa się co roku od 2009 r. i przez lata dorastał razem ze środowiskiem DESW w Polsce. Szczycimy się tym, że na każdej edycji proponujemy przynajmniej jeden nowy pomysł.
The Silesian Confrontations of Lost Fencing Arts (Śląskie Konfrontacje Utraconych Nauk Kunsztu Szermierczego — ŚKUNKS) is an event aimed at promoting Historical European Martial Arts and giving HEMA practitioners an opportunity to compare their skills during speed cutting, historical wrestling, longsword, and langes messer tournaments.
One of the main objectives pursued by the organisers is to enable participants to share their experience in the interpretation of treatises through discussions, workshops, sparring, and competitions involving various weapons. The regular items in the programme are: a speed cutting tournament, a longsword tournament, and fechtschule. Another integral element of ŚKUNKS is a BBQ party.
The event, held in Rybnik, Poland, is currently the only such event in the region of Silesia and one of the few in Poland. ŚKUNKS has been held annually since 2009 and it has matured over the years along with the Polish HEMA community. We are especially proud of the fact that we propose at least one new idea during each edition.
